Makita

Makita has always had the vision that society and global communities should be able to develop for themselves, and future generations. By providing the tools, Makita is ensuring that anything is possible.

We can be certain of this by the initiatives that guide our business every step of the way. From our regard for the environment, evolving safety measures and innovations in design and manufacturing, we're sure that not only are we contributing to a better today, but investing in a better future.

Innovation

Key to Makita's vision is the constant strive for innovation in our technology and our products. From our safety solutions like AVT and dust extraction, through to our Lithium-Ion battery and chargers technology, Makita is at the forefront for new ideas.

This is all down to our dedicated research and development centre in Japan, where engineers work hard to constantly improve our products in all aspects, from power consumption through to ergonomic design and function.

Manufacturing

Makita manufactures its tools in plants across the globe, from its headquarters in Japan to here, in the UK. Our Telford manufacturing plant is the only full-production facility for power tools in the UK and has been successfully running construction on many of our top line cordless power tools since 1991.

Makita's acquisition of Dolmar in 1991 has also meant that we have one of the strongest histories in the Outdoor Power Equipment market and the plant in Germany constantly delivers tools worldwide to the highest quality.

At the heart of our manufacturing process is the belief that for a good tool you need a good motor, and Makita makes every effort to make sure our motors are of the best quality. We source the absolute best raw materials and components in order to build the most powerful and efficient motors we can imagine.

Premium grade steel is used to produce armature shafts and gears, and only steel of the highest grade is used, whilst high grade magnetic copper wire goes into each and every one of our tools to ensure superior current flow whilst withstanding extreme temperatures.

Our quality control tests each, and every, machine that leaves our manufacturing plants. Nothing is left untested; on the motor alone we perform 19 extensive tests!

Our high standards go a long way, which is probably why when you buy Makita, it's likely to be a lasting relationship.

I had a Makita kit a few years ago. I did like it was light and easy to use but some of the tools were just lacking in power compared to the dewalt tools my boos had. Had to send them back twice as the kit kept going faulty with the charger and a couple of the tools.

I moved over from dewalt about five years ago and I haven’t looked back. I use the 18v range. The fact all the batteries are interchangeable is great. I was bought a basic drill/driver and it lasted me 8 years with some heavy abuse. I love the fact I can purchase bare items saves a fortune. I highly recommend them.

I have been using Makita for the last 5 years. I have 18v drill and impact driver which are used everyday, these are excellent. I also have the main powered multi tool. This is also very good, it’s only downfall is the release mechanism is a poor design and keeps jamming. I have used a Dewalt one which is much better

I’m a Marita man at heart as I love the brand from the first drill driver I bought. I live near the makita headquarters and they have fixed many of my tools free of charge even when out of warranty, they see it as good customer relations. I am however aware of the rise of other brands of power tools and as such I’m much more selective when I buy these days. Makita are still good value for money and fairly robust product but some tools aren’t the best like for like. Case and point my battery powered makita skill saw is virtually useless unless cutting cardboard. Decent blades make no difference. It doesn’t have the power of its rivals. On the other hand I can’t do without my drill driver and impact driver, even use them as a hammer when needed. Never let me down. Sometimes I think I’m paying too much for the name. Always be wary

I was recommended to buy a Makita BO4555 palm sander by several people. I've used this sander since 2013 and it has not let me down. I recently bought a new base pad which was easy to fit, and I also bought a new bearing and some seals which I haven't fitted as it doesn't need them yet. I don't mind paying out for tools that can handle heavy use on a regular basis, and this palm sander delivers. I haven't yet had to contact Makita so I don't know what the customer service is like, but when you have a tool that is easy to service and maintain yourself, customer service really is a last resort. I hook this sander up to an extractor, and it sucks up 95% of the dust I create when rubbing down walls, ceilings and woodwork. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Makita BO4555 palm sander. Excellent product.

Love my makita stuff. Used them since college. Great range great look and tools sort out any problems. Smaller drill burns out too easy but the heavier metal chuck drill lasts and lasts

I started plumbing and heating 8 years ago! Was using makita from the start and I bought all my own tools in makita, they are great. One fault would be the batteries and how expensive they are.

Makita is the only brand of power tool i use. I have 2 combi drills, an SDS drill an impact driver,, a jigsaw & a circular saw. They all run off the same batteries & charges and have never let me down. I'm not a big fan of their accessories (drill bits, screwdriver bits etc) but their power tools are great quality at great prices.

I have had Makita Power tools for a long time now, never had any issues with any battery or tool. The price is very reasonable. The best part about the battery drillls etc is that the charger only takes around 30 mins for a full charge so you are never out of power and never wasting time while you are charging

Will you be doing a 54volt version to rival dewalt flexi volt battery system?

Question for Makita Answers for Makita

good drills but the quality has dropped off...poor battery life as batteries die after 12 months and you don’t do a standard battery now keep changing so old products don’t work hence you have to keep buying new products.
