These are great. Also abit pricey, but very very good. I had watched the video of them on tooltalk and they are great for wood and the like. They are not multi material but very fast and very clean cuts in wood. The quick change is great and they are very easy to unplug if it gets bunged up.

Got a set to try out, love how easy they the hole saw fits on the arbor easy. And the sliding feature to get rid of waste cut material. So that feature is a win for me. When testing this I tried it on 18mm ply. It Didnt leave the cleanest of hole but it didnt destroy the wood. All in all a good hole saw set for rough cuts or first fixing.

I've used the 16mm and 38mm bits, they are great at cutting through MDF chipboard and solid wood. They have TCT teeth like circular saw blades and create a larger dust which is way better than the fine dust and burning smell of a standard bi metal hole saw. Ejecting the plug is a huge bonus, make it so easy than prying with a screwdriver or unscrewing the cutter to push it out. They do an enlarging bit too which would be ideal for recess lighting upgrade which I'd be keen to try out.

I am really impressed with these drill bits and for new builds I can see them being great but for everyday use fitting heating system it only take a screw or nail to ruin the hole bit and then it has to be throne away. The first hole I drilled with the 34mm bit I hit a screw that should not have been there and bit bent and broke, hard to replace the cutters at the price they are

What can I say but a brilliant holesaw goes through wood like butter. So much quicker than a bimetal holesaw. Great feature having the quick release mechanism, makes plug removal a doddle. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a new holesaw kit.

I got the starter kit on a recent deal for around twenty pounds. I havenā€™t had yet put the holesaws to much use but have tested it on some 4x2.
The holesaws are quick and easy to use.
They cut through timber quickly although mine ripped through it splintering it as it went. The ejection worked well although it didnā€™t eject a vote but splintered debris.
All in all I think the holesaws are going to be a useful addition to my tool bag.
Iā€™m glad I got them for around 20 rather than the full 40 retail.

Hi guys, my name's Neil Gargaro from Routley & Lemon Electrical Contractors. We're going to be doing a Tool Talk review on the Monument Pro-Fit Holesaw.

So let's take a quick look. So one of the first things you'll notice is they're TCT blades. This one's 16mm, or 5/8ths, and this one's 38mm, inch and a half, pretty much standard plumbing sizes. So one of the first things you'll notice is you've got the quick release mechanism. You can interchange the pilot drill, or the guide, quite quickly in some cases. And even with these, according to their website, you can click one into the other and use the smaller hole as a guide. But I don't think that works quite so well on these ones, I think you have to put it further down. I think they need to be of the same size.

So one of the biggest things I did notice about these is the length of the guides compared to like a standard holesaw. Let's move these out the way, and grab a drill. I've got two drills here, I've got me smaller Milwaukee and I've got the big daddy bear boy that I use for most of the joists and drilling and stuff. So if I put this in the smaller one, 360mm there, standard rafter size is what, between 200mm and 400mm. So you're going to struggle to get this, especially in older properties, between the floor joists drilling holes. You're supposed to be able to drill these at a slight angle, but it's still not going to help much, is it, to get below the floor levels.

So let's have a look on the other one. This is the big daddy drill. And again, you've got 400mm there. So 400mm to drill a 38mm hole, it's not exact compact and I think you'll struggle to get that in underneath some of the floors. I can understand why they've got the length that they have. Obviously when you've got the plug inside the hole, you slide it backwards which releases the plug, which we're going to get to in a minute. We can actually see on some real world timbers, rather than a bit of skirting board there, I don't know why. Bit of off cut timber, and what have we got here? We got a proper joist here. We've got, what, a six by two. So yeah, we can actually see properly what these bad boys can do.

So I've got the old manky workbench all set up now. Let's drill some holes. Oh, let's put you on drill, shall we? Well, that was quite quick. So there's no bit left inside there. What we have got, though, is a very fluffy hole. You can see the... And it's sort of blown out the back slightly there. Can't imagine you'd want to use this on a finishing piece. Yeah, Starrett is a bit cleaner and slower. But yeah, if you're bursting through timbers and stuff like that, no problem at all. Let's try the bigger one.

So straight away it's come unclipped, or I didn't clip it in properly. Let's have another try. Well, that was a bit cleaner. Oh, there we go, pops the plug out nice and easy. Again, the hole's a bit fluffy, it's not the cleanest of holes, and sort of blown out the back again, a few splinters. But obviously this TCT parts are made for speed, rather than smoothness of holes.

So this is a slightly thicker piece of wood there, bit of scrap that's been lying around. Let me stand up for this one, see if we can make it any quicker. Let's put this back, shall we? Nice, quick, and easy. Again, splinter out of the back. I suppose I could try and go one side nicely. Let's see if we can get a nice clean hole. Oh, nope. Let's flip it over. Not bad. What I did notice, though, is when you're drilling the hole you're getting quite a lot of movement on the guide. If you can hear there, can you see the play? I'm getting a lot of, let's hold the drill bit still, a lot of play on the end there. So I don't think you're ever going to get a clean, perfect hole. But for blasting through holes.

It's quick, I should imagine the people that are going be to using this kit are going to be chippies, kitchen fitters, stuff like that. Kitchen fitters, I don't know what they'd be like on a bit of melamine or some chipboard. I haven't got any floating around in the garage to be able to show you. Let's try some of the smaller holes. Put that drill down there. Let's have another go. Went for a bit of filler there. Probably do this way. There's nothing inside the bit. It's not leaving any plug. It's quick, but it looks like a beaver's been at it.

Right, let's have a go on the bigger piece, this is the real test. There's a bit of chipping on the wood there to start with. Let's hope it don't split. Well little drill didn't like that much. It's starting to get a bit jammed in there. Clean it out, there we go. If you can see, where you've got half the drill bit, it doesn't exactly go through the smoothest. Let's have another go. Doesn't like that at all. It does it, but it's not happy. I was wondering if I change it for the bigger drill bit. Let's have another go with the big drill.

Okay, we've got the big drill out now. Let's have a go with this. He's cutting my drill out. No, it's not happy. There we go. Oh, now we got it stuck. How we going to do this? There we go. So let's pull that back and get the bit out. There you go, that comes out nice and easy. It didn't go in quite so easy. Let's try again. Let's try on the low gear. Well, he got through. Nice, easy bit, there we go. Nope, let's try doing it. There we go. So the plugs come out nice and easy. Let's try a bit of a different method. I've got you in low gear again. Let's turn it around.

It's starting to clog up. Can you see? The saw dust filled the hole up. It's quite warm. Well, it got through. So let's have one more hole. So that one was a bit harder. This is a nice bit of dry wood as well, this has been sitting in the garage for a long time. May look a bit damp and stuff, but it's not. Yeah, see, that one blew straight out of the back. The teeth seem nice and sharp still, but it seems to be a lot slower than it was. I don't know whether we was going through a knot or something. Let's have another go. Oh, it would help to clip in the bit. Let's have a look. Look, I've still got three bars on the battery. Let's go back in number two gear. Nope, straight away you're cutting out. Oh, and we got a bit of smoke that time. So plenty of holes drilled, starting to get slightly bit harder now, it's not sort of losing its sharpness er it first was. Let's do one more. Oh, there we go, that one bit.

Hmm, let's give the smaller one a try. Well, that got through no problem. Still a bit blocked up, but there we go. It doesn't see to form a plug at all on this smaller 16mm bit, it just sort of leave a bit of a mess. The hole's not exactly clean either. Can't imagine you're going to get a pipe through there. Let's have another go. Well, that was a bit cleaner. Let's put you on the lower setting and try a bit slower. Split the wood.

So guys, I don't know whether I'm impressed with these or not. I like the idea of the quick release business, but unless you're going into MDF or something really soft, or a thin piece of timber, I think you're literally going to batter the timber to pieces. Yeah, it's quick, but it's not a very clean hole. So what's the outcome? Great bit of kit. They're a bit finicky. If you want to a straight, clean hole, Starrett I suppose.

Yeah, they're alright. They do what they're supposed to do. If you are busting out holes all day every day, then I suppose this thing'll save you a bit of time, but they're not the cleanest of holes and you'll probably need to like clean up the other sides of the timber trying to put a pipe through or whatever, which sort of defeats the object a bit. If you are going through with an Irwin Spade bit or one of them Milwaukee self feed bits, yeah they blow out the back slightly, but not that much, and they're not quite as big.

So yeah, so thanks very much for watching. Don't forget, like, subscribe the Tool Talk channel for more tips and reviews. Cheers, thanks very much. Bye-bye.

I suppose I better leave this mess for someone else to clear up, being an electrician and all that.

Hello, Jamie, Graphene Gas Solutions again. The next review is on the Pro-Fit Hole saws. And these are the best hole saw I've ever used, absolutely superb. So I was only sent the starter kit, which is 16 and 20mm. You can get for all sizes really. So as you can see there, the bit slides in and out, then clicks in, if I can do it. So then it doesn't move, so you can cut the hole. Obviously, the wood would all come out of there, which you can get out a lot easier because there's a big slot. But then you can also slide it off, get the wood out, pop it straight back in, so it makes it a lot faster. And as well as that, it actually cuts the wood rather than burns through it like most other hole saws do. I know you can get better ones, but still I've never seen anything like this where it's super, super sharp.

The only downside of that being super sharp is that if you hit a screw, which I did do with the 16mm one, it's pretty much just destroyed in one go. So you got to be careful. But yeah, I'm probably going to buy the full whole starter kit with this because it's fantastic. Great bit of kit, nice one.

Hi, everyone, it's Joe from Apex EC here again, just doing a quick review on these Pro-Fit hole saws. They've been sent out to me by Tool Talk. So we've got two different sizes, they've given me a 16mm and a 38mm. Think they're more typical plumber sizes. So we have these pilot bits, I think it's and 8mm shank on this one, and a 10mm shank on this one.
They click very nicely. Pretty solid, not too much wobble in them. I'll drill a couple of holes, and we'll show you what they can do.
So, speed-wise, very quick. This is 18mm OSB. Not the cleanest cuts, but then I expect that from this type of wood.
I'm going to the 38 now. Remove the wax guards on them.
Again, very quick. Last one didn't need a plug ejected at all, this one does. But again, nice and simple there one, pull it down, and it pulls right off. And you just slide it back up again.
Some of the top features that they have advertised with this one, however, is the angle you can now achieve, so if you did need an angle run, for whatever reason. You start off with the shank pulled back, and then place the hole saw on. Get it started. And slide it back down.
Again, nice angled hole. Plug again needs ejecting, nice and easy. Handy thing with this is it never slides beyond where the hole saw sits, because of this. Makes it very easy to get out. So that's their angled one.
Again, another feature on these, is that you can actually enlarge holes, if you have the original size hole source. So you can place that in to act as the pilot now, making it a lot easier to enlarge this hole.
Okay. We've gone from a 16 to a 38. Nice and easy. Again, OSB crumbles away pretty much.
I'm going to put it to a test on this bit of timber now. Obviously, you'd never drill a hole this size in a bit of timber this size, unless it wasn't structural.
Again, pretty good. Easy enough to remove the plug.
Again, all in all very nice, really good system. Cuts very quick, and very clean. It's actually a nice hole in this bit of timber. So yeah, other than being plumbing sizes, and they'll probably go to a mate, I'd say these are definitely something I would want.
It would be quite handy with a quick interchangeable hole saws as well.
Obviously, again, the 10 is for these bigger size hole saws. I assume the 8 probably goes up to 25, maybe 32. And then above that, obviously, you do want a bigger shank anyway.
The only downside I can see with this is that the drill bits, where they're all built in, means you have to buy a whole thing if your drill bit goes blunt. Worst case, you just pilot and use this as a guide, but still something to think about.
And the only other one would be to make these possibly removable. I don't know if they are, I'll try and get one off in a minute. Just so you can interchange the hole saws, it would be handy.
So I've managed to just get this undone, pretty easily actually, to be fair, a chisel placed through there. And thanks to this flat edge, I was able to get a pair of grips on it quite nicely. I mean, and this is now suitable for any hole saw. Obviously, these are specifically designed for wood, having these different type of teeth on them. Got through a lot nicer than any metal or bimetallic hole saw does, usually it burns its way through. So definitely for wood, these are definitely better than any other hole saws.
Yeah, all in, I'd definitely buy a set of these, I think. I may even look into them, see how much they cost. Plus, I've got a couple of pilot bits already. First couple of wood bits started.
Yeah. Nice tool. Pro-Fit, good job.

8th April 2022

Hello, everybody. I've been asked by the guys at Tool Talk and Expert Trades to give you a review of these. Let me just see that you can see that. The Pro-Fit Hole Saw set for drilling through wood. I've got to say these things are brilliant. Fantastic. I can't tell you how good they are at chewing through timber. I'm not going to post a video of me cutting holes. There's plenty of them on the internet already, but these things really do work. I think they're a great product. Easy, quick change, fantastic. Couldn't tell you how happy I am to receive them. To attach the hole saw, it is literally push a small button here. There, I've taken it off again. Click and it works. Chew through wood, no problem at all. Nice tidy hole, no burnout at the end. And a great time saver.

If I have to give you a negative point and it is only a small one, it's that this piece doesn't have an interchangeable drill bit. So if it gets blunt, you are into sharpening it. If you haven't got that piece, then you are going to be looking at buying a new arbour shall we say. But as long as you're careful, you know what you're drilling through, I don't see that as a problem really. Great piece of kit. Love it. I shall be putting this into my toolbox and using it as much as possible. It comes in a nice little box. There's two there for a starter kit.

The other one isn't as nice as this one now, as I've been drilling through various bits of timber to see how good they are. I've got to say I was very impressed. Nice and tidy and well worth the money. I've got to say, I should be looking out for these in the future and keeping them in my toolbox. Great addition, well worth having, really pleased. Hope you enjoyed this small, but short review and look forward to seeing you next time. Thank you.

8th April 2022

Hi, this is Andy from Bennetts Safe Gas. And today I'm reviewing the Pro-Fit. Thank you Tool Talk for sending this out to me to review. Pro-Fit, I think, is now owned by Monument, so should be good, top quality.

This is the starter kit, and what's in the starter kit is a 32mm whole saw set and a 20mm. There are Two drill bits. One is for the bigger, it goes on like that. And this one's for the smaller one, that's it simple as that.

Let's give them a go. That was a nice clean cut. That's it out, locked in. Comes off. Very nice. Don't know if you can see, but I purposely went through a knot here on the wood. So it shows how strong the tooth is and sharp. It's also a clean cut, no burning, no scorching. Yeah, it's a nice cutter. I suppose, the test of time will show how good it actually is, how long it does last. It does only come with one tooth. If you lose that, that's the end of that one, you got to buy a new bit. And it is the same with a smaller one. Just give that one a go. Okay. It's just chewed it up completely. Nothing to eject there, but has done a nice hole.

Let's try another one. Okay. This one's a bit tougher. So not the easiest. Yeah, I couldn't eject that. Maybe it's just an issue with the small ones. Try that again. Yeah, not quite as good as the bigger version. Does take a bit more to get off. So the smaller ones, all in all probably no better than any others. Definitely sharper and cuts better. Yeah, it's a nice little hole saw, thank you.

8th April 2022

Today we are reviewing this, the Pro-Fit system. It's a click and drill, easy plug ejector. So as you can see, it comes in a really nice container, very useful because these are easy to throw in your bags. Really good for all your little bits. So in this pack, we have 20mm, a 32mm. These are your two cutters. These are two arbours, and they go together like this. Let's have a look at the smaller one for now. Now these look like a really nice little system because when you've got them in the drill, the drill will sit here and you can just slide it backwards and forward, making it quick release. You've also got this lovely little groove where, if anything gets stuck, you can use a screwdriver and push it out.

Now, I'm going to compare this to the good old Starrett cutters, which everyone uses, everyone likes. Now, as you can see, there's a number of differences with these systems. First of all, when you're trying to clear this, you're going to have to unscrew it. You're going to have to pull it out. You're going to have to put it back. You're going to have to screw it back. And I find with these, once you've drilled something, it becomes very, very stiff, and it locks it into place. And you normally end up having to get two sets of grips to release it.

So this system, being the fact you just press this button, pull the arbour out, probably the reverse way, ejecting the waste, and pushing it back in until it clicks, is actually a very clean and efficient way of doing it. Because it's not twisting; it's not going to get jammed; it's not going to get locked. And it is going to be a very easy one man operation, or one hand operation, to use. What I do like is that the arbour is very secure. You know it's not going to become loose. You know it's going to be solid. And this lock is very, very secure. I'm not worried it's going to come loose. I'm not worried it's going to start turning and crunching. And the length that you can drill out is a really good length. The arbour protrudes quite a lot as well because see it protrudes a lot more than the Starrett cutters. So what this means is if you've got an X on your table, it's going to be a lot easier for you to put this drill on X marks the spot than it is going to be the old fashioned Starrett cutter. Button really nice and big, easy to click, really reassuring.

Now, some things that I could say would be improved is the length of this shaft. It's good, but you struggle when it comes to tight spaces. So what might've been better is if you had it roughly the same length as what you'd have with the Starrett because even though it's designed to go back, I'm very certain it'll work just as well going forward. So then you've still got the same amount of speed, but you've also got the shortness. So you don't actually have to worry about those tight spaces. Another thing which was a pro earlier, but is also a con, is the arbour itself. Now, difference between these two is whenever this Arbour goes blunt, you can just get another six mill metal bit and replace it. This on the other hand is not so easy to replace. I don't know if they sell the shaft separately or not, but it's not the easiest to replace.

Also, something I've noticed, like with different sized Starrett cutters, you've got different size of arbours. So take the one from the 32, it won't go into the 20 and vice versa because it doesn't lock properly. So this can be frustrating if you use a massive range of hole sizes, but if you're using the old one or two and you're just using the 32, using the 20, you're probably going to be fine.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but only for certain jobs. If you're like me and you're an electrician that goes around not really sure what you're going into, unfortunately, it is going to be the Starrett cutter all day long. But if you are a carpenter or a pipe fitter and you know that you are going in and you are making all the holes for your pipes to access and you know that you doing 100 holes or 50 holes, then this system's going to be good because it's going to save time, effort, and energy making those holes. Because sparkies is generally only use these for a couple of holes here and there, the odd one or two, but other trades will use these a lot more. And if you are using them constantly, it's better to be faster.

Another main difference between the Pro-Fit system and a Starrett cutter is the amount of teeth. Now, this only has one tooth on it, whereas Starrett cutter has teeth all the way around. Now you may think this might be a drawback. Yes, if you hit this one tooth, you most likely do damage the whole thing. Whereas with Starrett cutters, you can knock teeth off left, right, and centre and it will still go. But the one tooth is very, very useful in this setup because it guides all the debris down the hole and out, leaving just a clean cut, if not cleaner, than Starrett's.

If you look at the case, it comes with this nice little QR code where it gives you a lot more information about what they can be used for, how it was developed. One of the things it does state is you can use these cutters for soft aerated bricks. It does say that it's best to use a diamond cutting drill bit, but it just shows you that these are going to be quite strong, heavy duty, and that if you do want to go through bits of metal after metal after metal, they should hold up because the walls of the Pro-Fit system are also thicker than the Starrett's. This means they should be stronger, harder, and have more longevity.

This is a new system, and it does take some time to get used to. If you can make it to have a shorter shaft, it would be good. But is it the end of world? No. It's still a really good product, really smart way of redesigning the whole cutter, and I think it's going to be really, really useful.

Hi, I'm Gareth from Udell Electrical Services. Tool Talk have sent me this holesaw kit from Pro-Fit. It's a new kind of wood holesaw kit. I've been using it for a couple weeks and I find it really, really handy. Before I had it, I've been using the bog standard, holesaws that everybody uses. Now, these are more designed for metal work with the sharp teeth, but you can use them on wood and a lot of people do use them on wood.

The problem with using them when you drill out, you end up with a plug that's stuck in there and you end up having to fish the plug out bit by bit with a screwdriver and it takes a lot of time. The ProFit has redesigned the whole point of the holesaw. These are designed for wood and I have found them super quick at drilling through.

There's a separate arbour. That's an 8mm arbour, which does the smaller holesaws, or you get the bigger arbour, which is a 10mm size and does the bigger holesaws. This one here I've got is a 38mm. You literally take the arbour and slide it onto the holesaw. There's a little lever there that pushes in and clicks in, so it's got a positive click in, so you know that the holesaw's there.

As I say, I've been using these a couple of weeks. As you can see here, I've already drilled a couple of holes in this wet bit of three by two, and it flies through. I can do another demonstration. Straight through. As you can see, the plug is in the holesaw. You literally just press the button in, pull the holesaw towards you, that leaves the plug there. You can twist it off the drill bit and that's the plug out. They come in different sizes. You can get several kits, but the one that I've got here is the 38mm.

The other opportunities that I have used them and this is a real life situation. We've fit a lot of consumer units which are metal. They come with a slot in the back and we fix them to a wooden back plate to make it all tidy that the cables can come through. As you can see here, there's normally a wooden slot that we cut into the backboard and the consumer unit goes over the top. What I generally do with these is use the holesaw, the 38mm holesaw, slide it in and then line it up in the middle and do one at either side. One that side. One that side, and then I can get my jigsaw out and saw straight across there, which gives me a nice tidy groove. That's a real life working side.

I really do like these holesaws. They seem to have spent a lot of time and effort recreating a good holesaw. I certainly will be investing in more of these as time goes by. I certainly will keep the old fashioned ones in my toolkit for when I do metal work, metal trunking and stuff like that, but any wooden stuff, I'm going to now switch to these Pro-Fit ones. They just seem a lot simpler and a lot more straightforward to use, so go ahead and get yourself some.

Hi there, Daniel Stokes here from S.A.S. Heating, doing a Tool Talk on the [Pro-Fit] hole saw quick release set. Really nice set, really good cutters, really like using these. Especially because they come apart so easily. Got a button there, just push that in. Goes on there, push in, click and it's in. Nice bit of kit.

As you can see, just pull it down and out comes all the mess. Very nice, nice and clean. Ready to carry on cutting. Got a 20 mm and a 25mm bit. Really good piece of kit. Definitely recommend getting them for all them nice little, tricky jobs.

Hi guys, Steve here, or Spud the Sparky. Been asked by Expert Trades to review the Pro-Fit Hole Saw Set.

This is the wood set. Would have been a bit better if I'd had the metal one, because I'm an electrician. But I've tried it out as best I can. And yeah, basically it's a pretty useful bit of kit, because it doesn't jam up like a regular hole saw. It's quick release. So you just got a button on the unit to put it onto the drill. Which is a lot easier than having to do up and undo a hole saw arbour.

And yeah. It doesn't clog up like a regular hole saw. Because with the quick release, you can just shake out the bit of wood. Cause it's got a notch down the side. Nice clean cut through the wood. Comes in multiple different sizes.

Yeah, bit of wood just dropped straight out. Yeah. You can get it for wood bits, metal bits. And there's also a multi-purpose bit as well. So I suppose you just get which ones you need for your job. The only things that I've noticed from using this kit is you've got the notch here, which the hole saw joins onto. And, almost needs to be slightly shorter because I find you lose a bit of control on the hole saw just by the amount of space between the tip of the pilot and where the hole saw locks onto. So you got quite a big end there. But all in all it's a pretty good unit.

It'd be good to get one of the multi-purpose bits for down lights and things like that. But yeah. So yeah. Pro-Fit Hole Saws. I'd probably try them out if you're ever thinking of a new hole saw set or just because they're easy to use.

Yeah. And so, I've been Steve or Spud the Sparky and this has been a review for Expert Trades ,Tool Talk.

Good morning, everybody and welcome to another Tool Talk review. My name's James. I'm your friendly neighbourhood electrician and today I'm going to be reviewing some wonderful Pro-Fit hole saws that have been kindly sent to me by Tool Talk. Cheers guys. And right, to start off these things are ace. I use the standard muti teeth, multi purpose hole saws. I'll be switching to these. It's like a hot knife through butter.

So this set that I get from Tool Talk are the pro-fit starter set which you get a 25 mm bit, a 20 mm bit and the guide attachment. So easy to use, straight in, click in lock into place it's strong. Easy quick release. Easy to clear the whole saw out depending on what your cutting. Wood. Plastic. Things like that. I've already recommended these to the guys on site. It's what I've mainly been using them for cutting out holes in kitchen cupboards, to pull wires through. So much easier than using a standard auger bit. Or a spade bit. They're brilliant so.

I've got a scaffold board and an old bit of kitchen. Cuts through it like a hot knife through butter. Easy. Easy to clean out. Straight out. Give it a little clean. Easy as that. It cuts though stuff really easily. Kitchen cupboard flew through it. Pro-Fit. Great bit of kit. Brilliant.

So cheers guys for sending them out to me. This is my go to hole saw now, so cheers. I'd recommend these to anybody. Have a crackin' day guys. Talk to you later.

Hello, I'm Martyn. This is my review on the Pro-Fit starter set. It comes in this handy, little box obviously, keeping it all together, which is good. Then inside, you got two bits there and then your auger bit for it. This one here, it clips on the end of there like that. It's in position, it's not going anywhere. They claim that it will save you time with the quick release. You pull back like that, it should get the piece of wood out the middle quite quickly. Nine times out of 10, yes, it probably does do that, but I have found it does get stuck quite often as well, to be honest.

I also find that in comparison to the old HSS. They're for cutting metal really, but I've always used them for cutting wood. This one here seems to split the wood but it's not quite as tidy as what they claim it to be. But overall, yeah, it's quite a decent little item. Would it save you much time? Probably not, I would say. A handy addition to having the toolbox, but I don't genuinely think it's an essential. Like I say, in terms of, yeah, you might save some time, but I don't think you're going to get as clean a cut from it. So yeah, that's about it really. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Lee and I run a property maintenance company. I've been asked by Tool Talk to review the Pro-Fit Hole Saw System. I'm going to do this by comparing it to my existing hole saw system. I have two identical drills with fully charged four amp batteries and a typical kitchen cupboard side. So, here goes.

And quick change.

As you can see, that was quick and painless compared to my old saws.

Which is a much slower and more tedious process. The other thing I like about these that I've not been able to do previously, is drill at and angle, and where you do this is...

So there you go, Pro-Fit do a complete range of hole saws to suit most needs, and I can highly recommend them.

Hi, I'm Sean from Gas Patrol and today we're doing a review for Tool Talk on the Monument Pro-Fit hole saw set. These hole saw sets are absolutely fantastic when it comes to cutting holes. Compared to your standard hole saw set, which will generally burn its way through wood and get stuck. And then you have a nightmare trying to get the hole saw off. These, simply place it on, push it in, clicks in place. Let's test it out and see what it's like.

Use it, just turn it in. Let's give it a go.

Now, to unstick the wood, simply pull that up, quick release on it, and then just flip the pieces without. And there we have it. Nice and easy. Very simple to use. That is a 20 mm hole and it cuts it through very nice, very cleanly, very good cuts. I was trying out the 25 mm. Again, just slide it on, clicks into place and off you go.

There we have it.

Absolutely fantastic hole source. Nice cut, straight through. Hell of a lot quicker.

I would definitely, definitely recommend. Thanks again.

Hello there, it's Brendon from B. Burnside Property Maintenance, and today I'm going to talk to you about these Pro-Fit hole saws. I've received a little sample from Tool Talk and they've asked me to give you a little demonstration so we can see exactly how it performs. I also have the standard hole saw, roughly the same size. This is actually slightly bigger, but we'll see how they perform together.

I'll do the old traditional method first; let's see how it goes. So an old offcut of ply here. And as you can see there, that was more burning its way though than actually cutting. So let's get the plug out, which as everyone knows is an absolute nuisance with these. Yeah. Slowly but surely working it out, and it's ... yeah. And you'll find, using these, you spend 90% of your time just trying to get the plug out. Well, let's leave that there for the moment because otherwise you'll have a 10-minute video.

Now let's try the Pro-Fit. Now, the Pro-Fit, slide it on, and that goes on very, very easily. Just got a quick release button there. So let's see how it performs. And it's straightaway so much quicker, so much quicker. And to get the plug out, just pull that down, off it comes. Likewise, to change the cutter, off it comes.

It's very impressive actually, very impressive. So much quicker; that is going to save a lot of time. Okay. Thank you for listening.

Hi, my name's Ian Winnard, and I'm from Ian Winnard and Son Heating and Plumbing. Today, we're going to be testing a new piece of kit that's been sent out to us from the Tool Talk testing kit, courtesy of Harrison. We'll just zoom in and show you this that's arrived in the post. It's got this little bar there. It's got the Pro-Fit name on it. Quite a substantial little piece of kit. And a series of cutters, there's two cutters here. The first cutter is a Pro-Fit, and it's 20 millimetres, so be okay for 15 mm pipe. The other one they've sent out is 25 mm, so you could put a 22 mm pipe through cupboards or units or even floors with this type of stuff.

What we'd like to do is just talk about what you could previously use over the years. We started up with these type of cutters, and these were a series of cutters that have different blades in. These just pop out and pop back in, so it's full of blades. You can see we've had quite a few, and you just pull out the one that's a similar size and it locks in. Quite a cheap piece of kit. And then, we moved up to this type of piece of kit, and this is a bimetal cutter series of blades. You can see this is a new one, because we have to be fair if you're going to do a test, both cutters have to be new. This is quick release. A quick unspin, a couple of pins drop out of the back of it allowing it to spin off like that and take away. Need to align the pins together to lock back on again, and it takes a little bit of adjusting and then it locks on. So this is actually ready to go as a drill for cutting. We're on one speed, let's go up to two. We're going to be testing that in a short moment.

What it does say on these cutters is you should be wearing safety goggles. These are toughened glass that I use anyway for work. What it doesn't mention is your safety mask. If you're going to be cutting in any material, especially particle boards, hard woods, you've got to protect yourself. You don't want to be going down in years to come with COPD. Be very, very, very careful.

I'm just going to put this mask on, and we're just going to do a test hole to see how this little cutter takes to cut through.

We're going to start cutting a hole. This is 25 millimetre chipboard.

Okay. Just got a bit of material on the back there. Let's take that off and knock that through. So, because it was a brand new cutter, you can see it didn't start smoking, or it did at the beginning. It does cut pretty reasonable. And on this cutter, it actually came out. So what we're going to do is... These are very difficult to use. Sometimes you get the wooden part stuck inside there and then you have to start bashing around, getting screwdrivers and forcing out the wooden block. This is what takes time. We were quite lucky there and it actually fell out. You see, there's the teeth on there. Now, after a while, these will burn out. They'll get very, very hot, and then you'll get the smoking coming off. If you look at this piece here, this new Pro-Fit, it's quite good in it's got a little button to grip on to the bar. I'll just show it going inside there and it should just lock on. There it goes, there. So we're going to put this in here, a slightly different size. Just lock that up nice and tight. As I said, to be fair, we need to be changing the batteries at this stage, so these are both separately fully charged. So we're all locked on, and I'll just put my mask back on and give it a go.

Wow. That really flew through that. A different size, it doesn't really matter whether it's a different size, because it's still cutting out a little bit of the material as it's going through. I would say that was rapid, actually. That's really, really good. The different size, I think we'd like to try the next size up which is 22 mm. Keep the same battery in. I'll stick the old mask back on. Let's see how it does with this one.

Well that's pretty impressive, actually. The difference between this one and these is you've only got one cutting edge, one tungsten tip there, and that's what's doing the work against all these pulling away at the same time. I do believe that sometimes when you're cutting holes, or it's happened to us, and you've measured up and you're slightly out of line, what you find is that you're trying to cut a bigger hole here. You can try and do it with one of these, but you tend to skate when you get off the centre, so your hole goes out of line.

I'm impressed with the way that this cut through this. In fact, it's so good, I want to give it another go, because I want to see if the piece of wood that I cut out stays inside.

And there it is. It's actually broken up into pieces, but if you just press the button in, t hen pull back, all the residue just comes straight off. Whereas in this one, you would have to get a screwdriver to try and wedge it out. They do stick in, believe me.

You can centre these to go through a small hole that you've mis-sized, but you would need the bigger one than what they've sent us today. What you would do is pull the bigger one back, stick the one in front of it. Now, this one isn't designed to go through that hole, I don't think. We can try it. No, it's not quite right.

So this is the new Pro-Fit cutter. I think I'd like to see, because sometimes it's not always chipboard that you're cutting, is I'd like to look at what it's going to do, if it's going to go through a piece of not joist, but it would be thick enough to be joist, and see how it cuts on a basic white wood. So we'll just stick it back on there, click it in, slot in, and let's see what it does to this.

Wow. A bit messy coming out of the back. We could have stopped and gone halfway through and then come on the other side, which would stop all that. To cut through that, that's pretty impressive, really. A fairly neat hole. Obviously if you're going to cut through, you wouldn't want this. I'll just show you what we'd do with that.

Okay, go from the other side. Pull it out. And that's the difference when you go from one side to the other. You don't get the damage.

Thanks again to Harrison and all the guys at Tool Talk, and everybody that's working there, for sending us out this test kit. Thank you for Pro-Fit for giving us this piece of kit to test out. It's pretty impressive, really. I like all the little buttons, not getting clogged up inside, and fast cutting. That's extremely sharp, actually, now that the paint's coming away. That's a good bit of kit. I'm sure we'll be using it on the job. Be nice to have a full set of it. You can look online, you can look under Pro-Fit online. They do do kits for different trades, they do them for heating and plumbing, electricians, and various other cutters that they do for cutting through tiles, brickwork, and also timber.

Thank you once again, and thanks from me and James at Ian Winnard and Son Heating and Plumbing. Thank you.

Are these any good for masonry as well as the new pro fit waste kit

Answered on 11th August 2021 by Elements Heating Installations

Not this set, best thing to do is check the product range as I think they do a separate masonry kit
